A Letter to the Woman Arriving

To meet the version of yourself living one year ahead, and let her tell you what she needed you to begin.

What you'll need

  • Paper and pen
  • An envelope, if you would like to seal it

The practice

  1. Step 1. Date the page one year from today.
  2. Step 2. Write as her: describe an ordinary Tuesday in her life. Small details.
  3. Step 3. Write what she is grateful you started.
  4. Step 4. Write the one thing she is relieved you finally stopped.
  5. Step 5. Name one realistic step you can take this week.
  6. Step 6. Seal the letter, or save it privately in your journal.

Atira's reflection

Atira's personal practice: I write the ordinary Tuesday, not the highlight reel. That is where the real wanting lives.

Safety considerations

  • Move at your own pace. Vision work can surface grief about time you feel you have lost — that is common and welcome here.
